What do you ponder?

In this life, there are so many things for us to think about and consider. There are situations going on around us, challenges we face, ways to succeed, etc. but how much time to we spend pondering on the things of the Lord?

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” Psa. 111:2 NIV

Oxford dictionary says that ponder is a verb that means “to think about (something) carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion.” – Oxford Languages online

I wonder how many days we go through rushing through our Bible readings (if we get to them at all) without thinking carefully and deeply at what it is the Lord is sharing with us?

We need to keep our minds stayed on Him, but this cannot happen if we just rush through our time with Him without thinking about what He is saying in His Word, what it meant, and how it might apply to us today.

Lord, this morning, help me to dig into Your word and ponder Your ways. And may it, as the Psalmist says, help me to delight in You and Your works. In Jesus’ mighty name…
