His will, not my own…

“I do nothing without consulting the Father.”

John 5:30, NLT

How many of us can say that we do nothing without consulting the Lord? The reality, if we are honest, is that there are areas in our life where we may choose to pray, but don’t necessarily wait for His answer before moving forward. I am as guilty of this as anyone. 

As much as we seek the Lord, and desire to go only when we know He is calling us to go, it is easy to get impatient. It is easy to desire things for Him that we jump out ahead of Him, and as I mentioned, there are just areas where we go because we don’t necessarily want His answer. 

Yet Jesus says He didn’t do anything without consulting the Father. If He is going to be our role model, and He is as the only perfect human being, then we should make it more of a point to try and do the same. 

Do you have a big decision coming up? Seek the Lord. Something small? Seek the Lord. May we get to a place where we are so close to the Lord that we consult Him about everything.

And may He use that to make us a blessing to His Kingdom, and all those around us.
